General Information:

Big Rock Yoga Teacher Training for Behavioral and Service Professionals is a traditional 200 hour training program designed specifically for those actively involved in educational fields, mental health fields, medical fields, or professionals in service to others. The training is intended for professionals including educators, substance abuse counselors, social workers, psychologists, counselors, marriage and family therapists, school counselors, nurses, physician assistants, physicians, human resource managers, and others interested in teaching yoga as a service in professional environments. You will create a foundation in the tradition of yoga with a focus on leading classes in a professional environment. The training consists of six modules to be completed in a 12-18 month time frame. Each module is scheduled Thursday-Sunday as detailed below.

The lead trainer for all modules will be Wendy Cook. Wendy is an E500RYT with 16 years experience as an international yoga teacher and teacher trainer. She has experience in yoga for mental health as a contract provider for local mental health facilities, as a corporate human resources mindfulness consultant, and as an executive coach. Big Rock Yoga leads daily yoga on substance abuse, dual diagnosis, adult psychosis, adolescent, and partial hospitalization outpatient units. Wendy writes corporate mindfulness content and leads yoga for leadership seminars for corporate employees. She also leads individual yoga coaching sessions to local executives and professionals on an ongoing basis. All content within the program is the result of her extensive yoga education, combined with her years of leading group therapy sessions within the mental health field, corporate consulting, and one-on-one empowerment coaching.

The training will have a focus on top/down and bottom/up approaches to overall well-being through the practices of yoga. You will learn breathing exercises, mindful movement with safe biomechanics, meditation, and self-exploration through traditional yoga texts. Yoga as a physical practice will be taught with modifications, including chair yoga options. You will learn how to safely begin a student/patient in breathing and meditation practices with clear language.

If there is a professional in your business you would like to train who does not meet the previous descriptions, please communicate with us to discuss your needs.
